Recently, our events teams have been catering for Weddings and Corporate events at an alarming rate! From starlight ceilings, to geese herding, there’s been a wide array of extravagant events. Here is a run-down of some of the events we have catered for recently:
Yellow Jay Events organised an event for a London based company to celebrate their 5th birthday at the spectacular Ardington House. This glorious Georgian manor is set in grand formal gardens, with an extremely famous, and rare, imperial staircase. The opulent grounds allowed the team to enjoy an action-packed day, getting involved in outdoor activities, such as mortar shooting and geese herding! After such an energetic day, the team were more than ready for their 3 course dinner, catered by our talented chefs.
The character and historical surroundings of the house made the perfect setting for the group’s Murder Mystery in the evening. Our table set up included napkins folded into tuxedos, with mini bow ties, which fitted with the 1920’s theme of the Murder Mystery. The staff at the venue were very impressed with our napkin origami! It certainly sounded like the guests had a very enjoyable evening – as we left, they were composing some very entertaining songs to reveal their guess for who dunnit!
Another event we catered for this month was Paul and Tori’s Wedding at their parent’s house, in a large marquee. There was a wide range of Canapés to taste, which included: Spiced Aubergine and Feta Poppadoms, Crispy Fennel Pork Balls with Apple & Sage on Forks, Herb Pressed Seared Tuna, Pickled Ginger and Wasabi on Rye Bread, Rare Roast Beef with Horseradish and Cornichons on Sourdough.
When it came to the meal, we prepared a Starter, Main course and Dessert. The Starter was a light and airy Cheese and Spinach Souffle. Main course consisted of Roasted Sirloin of Beef accompanied by Salsa Verde, Dauphinoise Potatoes and Green Beans. This is always a tricky dish as everyone likes their beef cooked differently, but our bride’s diagram of where guests who preferred their meat well done really helped us ensure everyone was happy! The vegetarian alternative for the main was a Baby Carrot and Chickpea Tagine, with Spinach and Cauliflower Rice. For Dessert, our chefs served up Seasonal Red Berries, Shortbread and Cream, a light and sweet dish after a filling main course.
Not only did we cater for the Wedding, we cooked up two incredibly huge Paellas for the next day. Outside the marquee, we set up two Paella stations, so guests could watch the chefs prepare this amazing dish. The Paella contained a variety of ingredients, including Chicken, Prawns, Chorizo and Mussels, along with traditional Spanish flavours.
Additionally, we catered for another marquee wedding dinner, in Burford. From the pictures, you can see how magical the setting was for the dinner, and party afterwards. In the grounds where the marquee was positioned, the Bride and Groom had various garden games set up, for the guests to impress others with their skills. The games proved very popular after visiting the bar! At this wedding, the brief was traditional Home Cooked Pies, which we took and added some culinary flare. We served this classic in blue rimmed enamel tins and offered each guest their own delicious individual pie they wouldn’t have to share! This proved a success, and all the guests thoroughly enjoyed the dishes our chefs created.
The most impressive feature at this wedding, we thought, was the starlight ceiling in the marquee. From the angle in our photo, it looks as if the ceiling is the actual night sky, with twinkling stars. This is what made the whole setting so magical and unforgettable.
We received a great amount of praise from all the events, and hope the clients enjoyed their day as much as we enjoyed catering for it! We’ve certainly received some fantastic feedback from them all!
