Diageo

Becca and Ross Whitmill went down to Portsmouth on Thursday 12th – Friday 13th May 2016. They were there to feed the 350 hungry, tired participants, who had just walked 50 miles for the Diageo walk with joy from Winchester to Slindon, all in one night!

We wanted to make sure the participants had a delicious food reward at the end of the hard journey, so we set up ready for their arrival in Slindon.  Once they’d crossed the finish line of their walk, Ross & Ross Food were waiting with some tasty 10 hour slow cooked Lamb Baps with Salsa Verde, some slow cooked Beef, Vegetarian Lasagne and delicious BBQ Chicken. If their belly’s weren’t full enough, dessert was served and they had lots of yummy options to choose from – perfect Pecan Treacle Tart, luscious Lemon Tart and chunky Chocolate Brownies. We wanted them to feel at home and rest whilst we supplied them with these fusion of foods. All the food and alcohol was free for the overnight walkers, and they all seemed to enjoy the evening celebrating their achievement.

Once the night had come to an end, most of the participants slept over in the tents, meaning they would wake up to some yummy breakfast made by us too! They could feast upon some proper Bacon, piping hot Sausages, warming Porridge, refreshing Fruits, scrumptious Granola and yummy Yoghurt. All of this included a nice morning Tea and Coffee.

Ross & Ross Food hired local staff from Portsmouth, who were brilliant! They worked really well with Ross and Becca and helped them with serving the food on both days. The two days were really relaxed, fun and even sunny (I know that’s rare!) It all went so smoothly and everyone had a such a fantastic time. I hope all the participants are fully recovered from the long journey and enjoyed our tasty food. And well done for completing the Diageo walk with joy!
