Navigating the restrictions imposed whilst living in a world suffering a pandemic is a necessary challenge, but for our industry, restrictions have often changed at the drop of a hat, making it incredibly hard to plan any form of celebration – let alone a wedding.

We were kindly contacted in early August by the parents of one of our lovely bride and grooms who have had to postpone their wedding this year. Keen to both support a local Cotswold events caterer and also celebrate their niece’s 40th birthday, they were going to have a small dinner party at home, all looked after by us.

We planned a full service, so they didn’t need to lift a finger and could just enjoy the evening. A chef, front of house staff and wines to complement the menu – a truly special evening.

However, the news struck, and following a last minute change in government guidelines, they decided to split one night into two nights, in order to comply with the rule of six.

We swiftly amended their menu to provide a ‘drop off’ option so that we didn’t take a valuable seat at the table, and delivered it to their door for them to heat up when they were ready.

This is an option we have always offered, but one that has proved more popular than ever this year, for obvious reasons! No pre-preparation or shopping, simply place the dishes in the oven following our instructions, and plate up. You and your guests still get to enjoy our award-winning catering, but from a safe distance, and one which does not require us as one of the chosen six.

Here’s their chosen menus, which we dropped off for them to enjoy each evening.

Feedback has always been so important to us, but during this time whilst we’re not able to continue with the large Cotswolds weddings and events we’re used to, it’s even better to hear.

This is what the lovely Mike & Carol had to say about their reimagined dinner party…

‘Thank you very much for all your help and hard work. The food was excellent, everyone was very impressed. Mike and I managed to get it all to the table in presentation form and it was all devoured very quickly. The wine flights were a great success too. It really added to a great atmosphere! We had been looking forward to it for so long and it was worth the wait.’

‘Just to second Carol’s comments, thank you for everything you prepared for our weekend celebrations. The food and wine were both excellent and we were pleased how well the food choices worked in terms of minimal preparation. I suspect my plating skills fell short of those of your staff, but despite that it was a memorable and enjoyable weekend for all.  ☺’

Mike – we’re sure your plating skills were top notch!
