Where has January gone? We can’t quite believe we’re in February already!

We’ve been super busy helping lots of couples nail down the food for their big day. It seems lots of people got engaged over Christmas (CONGRATULATIONS!), and now everyone is hard at work planning and organising! Ross W and Becca have been kept busy meeting lots of new potential clients. Our summer 2016 season is starting to look very full now…

We discussed all sorts of wonderful local, seasonal menus with our clients through January and been given some fantastic ideas to work with. From cows sourced from the client’s home farm, to venison shot on the estate of their wedding venue, we love to find new ways of keeping everything local and home grown.

We always love to be challenged here at Ross & Ross and a potential client did just that last week. The brief? Posh Mac n Cheese. Challenge accepted! The wonderful Anna Mae (mac n cheese extraordinaire from London) creates a load of street food dishes ranging from The Don Macaroni (macaroni with crispy bacon, basil oil and fresh basil) to The Kanye Western (macaroni with beef hot dogs, homemade BBQ sauce, crispy onions), all of which sound utterly delish. Inspired by her recipes, Ross W created 4 special Mac n Cheeses for our couple to try; 3 Cheese, Duck & Smoked Bacon, Chorizo & Pork Belly with Red Pepper & Tomato, and Prawn & Crab. Two very full and happy clients left our kitchen after all that particular tasting!

We catered for two birthdays in January – both small, private parties. For one, we provided canapes and a warming 2 course winter supper for 27 near Cirencester, and for the other a 3 course dinner for 14 in Stow-on-the-Wold. For the first dinner Ross W cooked up a gluten-free feast, with a selection of tasty canapés followed by our 10 Hour Slow Roasted Shoulder of Lamb with Roasted Butternut Squash. The vegetarian option of Baby Carrot & Chickpea Tagine also went down a treat! For dessert, the party enjoyed Baked Vanilla Cheesecake with a Winter Berry Compote. We later received this wonderful feedback from the host: “Thank you so much for Saturday night, the food was delicious and everything went wonderfully to plan”.

 Valentine's Pop-Up Christmas Pop-Up

Tickets for our next pop-up have just sold out! We’ll be at Wine Bear, Chipping Norton on Thursday 11th Feb for another of our famous 5 course feasts! With Mackerel, Pigs Cheek, and Rhubarb and Custard Tart on the menu as well as other tasty dishes and a fully stocked bar, it’s shaping up to be a GOOD night.
