LIFE IN LOCKDOWN – ROSS & ROSS TAKE-AWAY FEASTS

ADAPTING TO THE NEW NORMAL

ross and ross take-away feastsWe may only be half way through the year, but 2020 has been like none other – and we hope will be like none other in the future either. No one knew what was to happen and we certainly would have never thought we’d be in an industry that would end up suffering one of the longest periods of closure.

When lockdown happened and we knew there would be no events for a long while, we put our heads together to come up with a plan. What do people want? What do people feel safe to do? What can we sustain? How can we continue doing what we do best?

OUR FRIDAY NIGHT TAKE-AWAY FEASTS WERE BORN

After speaking with a few of our industry colleagues, it seemed people were missing out on top-quality food. There were plenty of fast food take-away options available, but not much that felt like a top-notch meal out. We came up with a new three course menu every week, including some of our signature dishes and some new creations to keep our flare alive.

We had three main aims – to give something back to those working tirelessly to support others in the community throughout this crisis, to be able to continue safely doing what we all love best and to provide a luxury break from the constant cooking that came with lockdown.

MARY’S MEALS

Mary’s Meals has been a charity we’ve been involved with for a long while and we decided there was no better cause for the profits of our take-away feasts. They provide vital meals to those in need in Chipping Norton, so this way the people we feed through our take-away feasts are feeding others too! Ross and his wife Tash also assisted with the weekly food drop deliveries around town.

Over the last 10 weeks of take-away feasts, our orders raised £1,127.00 for Mary’s Meals.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who placed an order with us and helped us reach this total.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END

At the beginning of July, we made the call to stop our take-away feasts (for now!) as we knew that with the re-opening of our much-loved local pubs and restaurants, like us, many people would be looking forward to getting out and about again.

Like many others, this period has been incredibly hard for the hospitality industry, which came to a temporary end virtually overnight. We feel now is the time to support our pubs and restaurants through this transition, which has seen them have to make many costly changes in order to re-open and provide a safe environment for their customers.

We wish them all the best and we will continue to put our focus towards how we can adapt and improve whilst we navigate our way through the new normal of the events world.

THANK YOU

So again, a huge thank you from all of us here at Ross and Ross, we look forward to seeing you soon and get back in the kitchen at our much-loved events and venues.
