Barns & Yard offer a highly flexible, personalised service, catering for weddings of all sizes. They are licensed for civil ceremonies and can accommodate up to 100 guests for a seated wedding breakfast and an additional 30 evening guests. The barns and cottages are available for three-day exclusive private hire. There are an abundance of spaces both indoors and outside in the wonderful grounds surrounding the barns in their lakeside setting and our three gorgeous cottages sleep 8 (+2). They’ve created a space that offers all the comforts of a contemporary venue fused with the history and romance of ancient barns.

History & Renovation

The barns are the original farmyard of the hall and date back to the reign of Henry VIII. Untouched for over thirty years, renovation began in earnest in 2017. Although they were in a terrible state of repair, the beauty of the listed buildings was clear to see and they realised they had the opportunity to create something really special that could be shared with others, and become part of their stories too.

The Spaces

The barns are compiled of six beautiful spaces, each finished to the highest possible standard.

The Cartshed – The perfect space to greet guests, the Cartshed has enormous, panoramic windows which look out over fields and pastures, and make a modern statement in a historic building.

The Threshing Barn – Grade II listed, the Threshing Barn even has the original threshing machinery hanging on the walls. Scrubbed oak beams, exposed brickwork and hand-forged lighting make for a simple but elegant space.

The Gallery – Above the Threshing Barn sits the Gallery, giving a fabulous view of any festivities occuring.

The Cider Barn – Sitting directly below The Gallery, The Cider Barn is a beautifully welcoming space. It is beamed and warmly lit, with a wooden floor and exposed brick and timber walls, creating a fantastically unique space. Its position near the main barn makes it wonderfully flexible.

The Stalls – Leading off The Threshing Barn, the covered stalls originally offered shelter to animals whilst they fed. Now, creatively restored, The Stalls offer a contemporary, quirky and flexible space that’s perfect for a party. The original feeding troughs have been lined with galvanised steel.

The Courtyard – With steps down from The Stalls, the landscaped Courtyard is a beautifully designed outdoor space. Bordered by fragrant plants and herbs and softly lit for evening entertaining, it’s a perfectly chic mingling space for welcome drinks or cocktails after sunset.

Alongside the barns sits three fully-equipped cottages which can sleep up to 8 (+2). Barns & Yard are fortunate enough to be surrounded by over 100 acres of private land, with wildflower meadows, immaculately manicured gardens and an absolutely stunning lake and jetty
