You are currently viewing You said YES!

We are now in the midst of engagement season. A season we LOVE. From December to February the number of proposals doubles compared to the rest of the year. We can see why; crisp days, autumnal colours, cozy fires – romance is certainly in the air.

Were you one of the lucky ones to say yes this season? Even if the world is still a little crazy, we hope that your proposal took your breath away and was everything you’ve ever dreamed of.

Now for the daunting part, you’ve found the person, you’ve got the ring… now to plan the wedding. Planning a wedding can be scary at the best of times, now with Covid and all the new regulations it is giving us seasoned professionals a difficult time, let alone new brides and grooms.

Yes, we are award winning, bespoke Cotswold based caterers, but we are also award winning event managers. We often run a wedding day from start to finish for our clients (and of course manage and serve our delectable food!). So who better to chat through your wedding plans with? Event manager extraordinaires, with a passion for good food and brilliant drink.

Wedding planning starts with a few simple steps, we always suggest to our clients that they each write a “top five” list of what is really important to them on their big day. By then comparing these lists you will be able to see what the both of you really want to focus on featuring in your wedding. (This will really help with budget allocation). Following that, it’s always a good idea to decide how much help, if any at all , you want with planning. This can always change later down the line, but being realistic about how much of the planning you’d like to take on is always a good idea

Next step for the DIY bride or groom – You want to plan it yourself from A-Z but could do with a little guidance:

Check out those online guides! The world of weddings is huge, the options are endless and knowing how to start can again be really daunting. We are huge fans of a cheeky online checklist or an app to help with budgeting. Yes, we might not use them all the time, but it’s a good source to just check in with now and then and make sure everything is on track.

You can get a little guidance through so many different online platforms these days, but one of our all-time favorites is www.hitched.co.uk. Hitched have a brilliant app to download to keep all your planning in one place, along with a handy search filter that lets you find suppliers according to region and budget.

Next step for the couple who’d like the help of a professional planner – you like the idea of planning the wedding, but need a friendly face to bounce ideas off for a bit more guidance:

A professional planner is a great idea for couples who want to take that extra step in making sure to dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s.  A planner is a great way of taking some of the pressure off of planning, and also broadening the creative plan for your big day.

They are fantastic at picking up on elements you might not have thought of, and not to mention they will have a treasure trove of fantastic contacts, suppliers, ideas that will be at your disposal.
